Living Through a Las Vegas Remodel: Plan the Final Clean

Coordinate the final clean of an occupied Las Vegas home after remodeling, including belongings, finished rooms, trade work and dust.

By Salt & Slate Cleaning Team

Finishing a remodel while you still live in the home creates two cleaning problems: the rooms where the trades worked and the household spaces you kept using. Treat both as part of the planning conversation.

For a Las Vegas remodel, begin with the contractor’s remaining work and a map of the affected rooms. The final clean belongs after the dust-producing work has finished and the site has been cleared.

Ask what work is really left

“Almost finished” can include sanding, cutting, paint touch-ups, installation or debris removal. Ask for the remaining tasks and the rooms they affect. Put the final clean after those tasks wherever possible.

Keep an ordinary household clean separate from the construction scope while work continues. When the project reaches its final stage, give the provider an updated description and a confirmed access window.

Salt & Slate’s post-construction cleaning in Las Vegas is the final clean after the trades complete their work. Our construction cleaning checklist explains that service in more detail.

Mark the rooms and the route between them

List the renovated rooms, hallways used by the trades and nearby occupied areas that need attention. Identify finished surfaces and any product or care instructions the contractor has supplied.

A kitchen remodel can involve more than the kitchen floor. Ask about reachable cabinet interiors, window tracks, trim and surfaces where fine dust has settled. Describe furniture and belongings that remain in each room so access can be considered in the quote.

EPA’s remodeling guidance discusses containing dust and separating work areas. Coordinate those construction-stage measures with the contractor; they affect how much of the occupied home is exposed during the project.

Clear surfaces without spreading the work

Before the appointment, move your own papers, clothing and loose belongings from the agreed cleaning areas. Decide where they will go so they do not simply cover another room scheduled for cleaning.

Tell the provider about heavy furniture, electronics and items that should stay untouched. Agree on accessible surfaces and any exclusions before the visit. If protective coverings are still in place, identify who removes them and when.

Keep repairs and cleaning on separate lists

Record paint defects, loose fittings, damaged finishes and installation problems for the contractor. Identify residue or dust you want assessed by the cleaning provider. Share surface information before asking for adhesive or paint removal.

The two lists can be reviewed together, but each needs a named owner. That helps prevent a visible construction defect from being treated as an unfinished cleaning task.

Plan for the days afterward

Fine dust may continue to settle after the initial final clean. Read the provider’s dust notice and discuss any later visit as a separate scope. Keep utilities available and avoid scheduling new dusty work immediately after the clean.

Your quote request should include affected square footage, the type of remodel, remaining furniture, expected trade completion and your target date. Add photos of the rooms if requested. The clearer that handoff, the easier it is to plan the last stage of the project.
