Dusting Around Art and Collections in a Paradise Valley Home
Write handling instructions for display shelves, artwork and collectible objects before estate cleaning.
By Salt & Slate Cleaning Team
A display shelf can contain several different cleaning decisions: the shelf itself, the objects on it, the frame above it and the wall behind it. In a Paradise Valley home with art or collections, record those decisions before the first estate cleaning visit.
Start with the pieces that require their owner’s instructions. An antique finish, loose frame, delicate sculpture or carefully arranged collection should have a clear handling plan.
Describe the display by location
Use room names and simple landmarks. “Glass shelf left of the living-room fireplace” is easier to follow than “the important collection.” List whether the team may dust the supporting surface, move any objects or work only around the arrangement.
Keep artist, conservator or manufacturer instructions with the household’s surface notes. If a piece has no clear care instructions, have the owner or designated specialist decide how it will be handled before adding that work to the cleaning scope.
For a group of small objects, appoint someone in the household to remove and replace them when the shelf needs a more detailed clean. This preserves the arrangement and makes the shelf accessible.
Separate surfaces with different needs
A stone console, metal sculpture and fabric lampshade should each be identified. The product and handling direction for one surface may not suit the next. Point out existing loose fittings or unstable display stands at the walkthrough.
Salt & Slate’s estate service uses surface-specific care and coordinates through your designated contact. Include display boundaries in that contact’s instructions so questions have one clear route.
Keep the note current
Update the room note whenever a new piece arrives or a display changes. Remove old instructions for objects that have left the home. If household staff are preparing a collection for cleaning access, agree on when it will be ready.
Share these details when planning estate cleaning in Paradise Valley. A concise room-by-room note lets the household preserve the displays while giving the cleaning team useful access to surrounding surfaces.
