Moving Into a New Frisco Home: The Final Cleaning Handoff

Plan cleaning for a new Frisco home around builder work, protective coverings, cabinets, inspections and furniture delivery.

By Salt & Slate Cleaning Team

A new home can be ready for its final walkthrough while still needing a defined cleaning handoff. Before moving into a Frisco new build, ask the builder what cleaning is included, what work remains and when the property will be clear for your chosen service.

The goal is to have one agreed final-clean scope and a sequence that protects it from later construction work.

Start with the builder’s remaining work

Request a list of outstanding tasks and the rooms they affect. Note any sanding, cutting, drilling, paint work or installation that may create dust or obstruct access.

Arrange the final cleaning after that work is complete and the site has been cleared. Confirm electricity, running water and authorized entry. A date on the calendar is useful only if those conditions will be ready.

Keep your inspection and repair list available, with a separate owner for each issue. Cleaning preparation and builder sign-off need their own checks.

Find out what has already been cleaned

Ask for the builder’s cleaning scope rather than relying on a phrase such as “ready to move in.” Identify whether cabinet interiors, tracks, trim, fixtures and appliance surfaces have been addressed.

Then compare that work with the condition you can see. Fine construction dust or residue calls for a post-construction cleaning scope in Frisco. A home already free of construction dust may instead need move-in cleaning.

The provider can discuss the distinction when you describe the project and affected surfaces.

Resolve coverings and materials

Identify who removes remaining protective film, tape and floor coverings. Ask the builder for care instructions for new floors, counters, fixtures and glass, including any limits on when a finish can be cleaned.

Share those instructions with the cleaning provider. Describe paint or adhesive residue individually so removal can be assessed for the particular surface. A broad request to remove everything can hide materially different tasks.

Keep packaging and construction waste removal assigned to the builder or another agreed party before the final clean.

Protect the empty-home window

Cabinets, drawers, closets and floors are easier to reach before belongings arrive. Put furniture delivery and unpacking after the cleaning wherever the schedule permits.

If a delivery must arrive first, tell the provider which rooms it will occupy and keep access to the agreed surfaces. Discuss the revised scope before cleaning day. Avoid unpacking kitchen items into cabinets that are still scheduled for interior cleaning.

Record the final handoff

Use a short list with three sections:

  • Builder work completed and site cleared.
  • Agreed cleaning tasks completed or awaiting follow-up.
  • Owner move-in and delivery arrangements confirmed.

For construction-cleaning expectations, read our final-clean checklist, including the information about settling dust. Discuss any later visit separately if new work or continued dust settlement creates another cleaning need.

When requesting a quote, send the Frisco address, square footage, work status, builder clean already completed, surface instructions and first delivery date. Those details help define the right last step before your belongings move in.

Frequently asked

Does a builder clean mean I can book an ordinary move-in clean?
Ask what the builder completed and describe the remaining condition. Construction dust or residue may still call for a post-construction scope.
Who should remove protective film and construction waste?
Assign those responsibilities before the final clean. Tell the cleaning provider what will remain so any additional surface work can be assessed and agreed.
